The 4th Year B.Sc. (N) students of KLE Society’s Institutions, Ankola celebrated Breastfeeding Week on 7th August 2025. The theme for International Breastfeeding Week 2025 was “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.”
On this occasion, to promote the importance of breastfeeding among antenatal and postnatal mothers, the students organized various awareness activities at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Ankola.
The program commenced at 11:00 a.m. in the function hall of CHC. The session began with an introduction on breastfeeding, followed by an engaging role play performed by the students. The mothers were educated on the advantages of breastfeeding, preparation for breastfeeding, initiation techniques, and management of common breastfeeding problems.
The program was conducted in the presence of Ms. Sameeksha Naik, Community Health Officer, Ankola, along with faculty members Mrs. Vidya and Mrs. Priyanka from KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola.
A Workshop on Psychiatric Emergency was organized on 6th July 2025 at KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola. The objective of the workshop was to enhance the knowledge and skills of nursing students in effectively handling psychiatric emergencies and crisis situations.
The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony. The workshop was officially inaugurated by Dr. Gangadhar S. I., Principal, KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola. Following the inauguration, Mr. Pradeep Singh Byali, Associate Professor, introduced the esteemed resource persons to the participants.
The first session was conducted by Sr. Susai, Vice Principal, St. Ignatius Health Sciences, Honnavar, who delivered an insightful presentation on psychiatric emergencies and their management. Her session provided foundational knowledge crucial for recognizing and addressing various psychiatric crises.
The second session featured Miss Shantala Naik, Nursing Tutor, KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola, who delivered a comprehensive training session on grief management. Her expertise and practical approach were highly appreciated by the attendees.
In the third session, Dr. Gururaj Udapi, Professor, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, delivered an informative talk on crisis and its management, helping students understand both theoretical and practical aspects of crisis intervention.
After the lunch break, the final session was conducted by Mr. Manjunath Naik, Assistant Professor, KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola. He provided a detailed session on stress and its management, highlighting effective coping strategies and preventive techniques.
The workshop was attended by students of 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing and 2nd Year GNM, who actively participated and benefitted immensely from the sessions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Miss Pamelia, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, faculty members, and participants for making the workshop a grand success.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the 3rd Year GNM students of KLE Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola participated in a rally organized by the Patanjali Yoga Samiti.
The students were accompanied by Miss Shantala Naik and Miss Priya Naik. The rally commenced at 10:30 a.m. The program began with a welcome speech by Mr. Ganapati Tandel, following which the rally was officially flagged off.
The event was conducted in the presence of the Circle Inspector, members of the Patanjali Yoga Samiti, and other dignitaries. The rally aimed to promote awareness about the benefits of yoga among the general public.
The students participated actively and enthusiastically throughout the rally. The event concluded successfully, leaving a positive impact on the participants and the community.
The 6th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola visited the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences, Karwar on 29th May 2025.
The session commenced in the morning at 10:00 a.m. under the guidance of Dr. Pramod Kumar G.N., Professor & HOD of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology. He delivered an insightful session on the introduction to forensic nursing, fundamentals of the Indian legal system, evidence and dying declarations, and relevant BNS & BNSS (IPC, CrPC) sections. The session concluded at 11:00 a.m.
Following this, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Dr. Raja Suriya V., Dr. Mahima, and Dr. Trishool Reddy conducted a session on sample and evidence collection, focusing on the collection and preservation of relevant viscera and evidentiary materials. A live demonstration on viscera and evidence material packing was also conducted. Afterward, students visited the Forensic Museum from 11:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Post-lunch, the afternoon session began at 2:00 p.m. with a lecture by Dr. Pramod Kumar G.N. on clinical forensic medicine case scenarios, helping students connect theory with practical applications. From 2:50 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Dr. Mahalaxmi B.K. and Dr. Raja Suriya delivered an engaging session on ethical issues, documentation in nursing practice, and showcased video-based demonstrations of post-mortem examinations.
All students participated enthusiastically throughout the sessions, showing keen interest in the discussions and demonstrations. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Pradeep Singh Byali, HOD of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola, expressing gratitude to the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology team of Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences for their valuable guidance and support.
The faculty and students of KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola celebrated International Nurses Week 2025 from 9th May 2025 to 10th May 2025.
On Day 1 (9th May 2025), several competitions and fun games were organized by the Student Nurses Association, including a face painting competition, rangoli competition, best out of waste, vegetable carving, and fancy dress competition in the college premises.
On Day 2 (10th May 2025), a Food Fest was held by the students, showcasing a variety of delicious dishes prepared by them. A poster presentation competition was also organized based on the theme of 2025 — “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies.”
Later, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to mark the celebration. Prof. Mr. Gangadhar S. I., Principal, KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola, delivered a speech on the theme of the event, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Mr. Pradeep Singh Byali.
All the students participated with great enthusiasm, and prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions. The celebration concluded with joy and appreciation for the noble profession of nursing.
On the occasion of World Health Day 2025, with the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Future”, KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola organized a rally on 7th April 2025 at the college campus.
Around 100 students from 2nd Semester B.Sc. Nursing and 2nd Year GNM participated in the rally. Based on the theme, the students displayed flash cards and spread awareness messages among the public regarding the importance of health and well-being.
The rally was initiated by Dr. Gangadhar S. I., Principal, KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola, who also delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of World Health Day. Following this, the staff and students enthusiastically participated in the rally, which was carried out through the main streets of Ankola, promoting the message of health awareness.
A workshop on Training of Trainers (Simulation): Advanced Teaching Method was organized from 2nd April 2025 to 5th April 2025 at KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola. The objective of the workshop was to enhance the knowledge and skills of nursing faculties in handling manikins, task trainers, and standardized patients effectively.
The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony. The workshop was officially inaugurated by Dr. D. L. Bhatkal, Secretary/Administrator, KLES Institutions, Ankola. Following the inauguration, Dr. Gangadhar S. I., Principal, KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola, introduced the esteemed resource persons to the participants.
The first day of the workshop began with an introduction by the resource person Mrs. Priyanka Baganavar, Assistant Professor & HOD of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing. She delivered a comprehensive training session on the circle of learning, the concept and scope of OSCE, and checklist preparation.
The second day of the event started with a recap of the previous day, followed by sessions on adult learning techniques, decision-making, and case study discussions.
The third day of the event began with a recap of the previous day’s activities, followed by sessions on an introduction to simulation, the art of debriefing, advocacy inquiry question framing, and simulation scenario designing.
The fourth day of the program started with a recap of the previous day and included a simulation scenario session conducted by the entire faculty team.

The first session was conducted by Dr. Kasyap from KMC Hospital, Mangalore, who delivered an insightful presentation on BCLS and its management. His session provided practical knowledge crucial for recognizing and addressing various basic life support scenarios and handling clients with cardiac arrest.
After the tea break, the second session featured Dr. Ganga from KMC Hospital, Mangalore, who delivered a comprehensive training session on chest compressions. Her expertise and practical approach were well appreciated by the attendees.

Junior College, Ankola; and Dr. Gangadhar S. Isarannavar, Principal, who were present over the function.
The welcome speech was given by Dr. Gangadhar S. Isarannavar, Principal, KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola. Dr. D.L. Bhatkal delivered a motivational speech for the students. The oath was recited by Dr. Meenal Narvekar, and the vote of thanks was given by Mr. Pradeep Singh Byali, Associate Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing.
The anchoring was done by Ms. Pragati and Ms. Nitiksha, 4th Year B.Sc (N) students. All the students enthusiastically participated in various sports activities. The programme was a grand success.
KLE Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola organized Lamp Lighting & Graduation Ceremony on 1st March 20225 at 10am in Satyagraha Smaraka Bhavan, Ankola.
The president of the function, Dr. D.L. Bhatkal, Secretary/Administrator, KLE Institutions, Ankola, presented the presidential address and made a motivational presence with his magical words for the newly admitted students and the graduates.
The chief guest of the function, Dr. Somashekarayya Kalmath, HOD of Child Health Nursing, KLE INS Hubballi, inspired the blooming buds with his encouraging words.
Shri. R. Nataraj, Co-ordinator, KLE Institutions, Ankola, and Dr. Meenal Narvekar, Member of the Governing Body, KLE Institutions, Ankola, were present over the function.

The oath was recited by Mrs. Vidya Naik, HOD, Department of Pediatric Nursing.
